What is the difference between ping g5 and g10 irons

I came to the same conclusion back in April of this year I've been very happy. The wedges were the real gems. I had no idea how much I'd grow to love them when I ordered the set. Wouln't trade them for any set on the market. Note: This thread is days old. Join the conversation You can post now and register later. Reply to this topic Insert image from URL.

Struggled at times with some left drives but that was more of my "comfortable" tendencies rearing their head.

Tournament was the Vegas Cup, us vs TPC Vegas and we made big comeback on the last day, winning 10 out 12 matches to win the cup back. I was in the last group, we were checking Golf Genius and when I was hitting my tee shot on 18 I thought my match was going to determine the winner of the event.

In reality we had already won but regardless, hit the best drive of my life on 18, made par and won my match 2 up. Keeping it simple. Very hard for me. My tendency is to start the move with my left arm adducting into my body. Very functional right now, hitting it great even though there are several things I'm not liking with the mechanics.

Today I played a 9-hole match with a coworker. The only real drama in the match was on the sixth hole, more on that in my blog. The back was as inconsistent as the front was consistent: two triples, two doubles, a bogey and four pars. Oh well. Hoping to get a little bit of positive handicap movement before January 1!

December Charleston Course Ideas. Which of the munis did you mean? Do you think it'd be crazy crowded on an early December Friday? You may want to try the Ping G too, I am a new player and I don't have a very high swing speed.

I got the G 5 wood last Saturday and I was very impressed. I made several shots over yards with it which is great distance for me.

They had a lot of shaft options including light weights and flexes. I can only imagine the driver is of similar quality with a lot of options. The bigest improvement I have found is the shafts as I play graphite. The G15's are a bit longer for me and provide a higher ball flight as well. Overall, I'm pleased with the switch and getting a good price for my G5's helped a lot to offset the expense.

The conforming groves don't perform the same as the G5's though. Where did you buy your irons? I would call Ping directly and ask them if this is true and not just a line given to you by a saleman in order to sell you a more expensive set of clubs. Ping G20 Driver: 9. It appears that on each generation the sole has gotten wider. There is also an increase in size on the toe weight too. I think there was a brief time where Ping wasn't going to offer the G5 in custom lie angles, but quickly changed that.

I would myself go with G10 if they don't feel harsher than G15 like some say. I totally disagree that the G10's are harsh. Personal preference, but I liked the feel better than any other club I hit when I bought them a year ago. I have hit the G15's indoors and they do feel great, but I don't have enough real world experience to comment if they are that much different.

Nice topic. After hitting the G15 at a demo day and being amazed by the forgiveness I have contemplated buying a set. But I can't really justify the price of the G15's so I started wondering how the G10's and G5's compared.

I like the blue of the G5's better anyway. In my opinion a high handicap player like myself won't notice a significant difference between the G5, G10 and G15 sets. Bad swings that result in bad shots with a G5 are usually going to be far enough off that they would have also resulted in a bad shot with a G The differences between the clubs are real, but the additional "window of forgiveness" that they provide is very small compared to a high handicap player's margin of error.

The only shots that are going to be saved are the ones that fall within this minute window. I wish somebody could convince me otherwise I'd be happy to trade up, but I can't convince myself that it is worth it!

I've hit all three generations and honestly couldn't really tell a difference. I ended up buying a used set of G10's for a good price and am happy. You can post now and register later.

Top Posters In This Topic 2 1 1 6. Funkey Posted April 6, Some flavor of the month driver. I have to admit that I looked forward to doing the research and field-testing the clubs for this review. Lately, I've been struggling with my irons, so I was eager to get a set of these out on the course to see what they could do. PING is one of the world's premier golf equipment manufacturers. Its unusual name comes from the pinging sound made by a putter designed by its founder, Karsten Solheim for whom the Solheim Cup was later named.

The company makes top-quality golf clubs for men, women and juniors, as well as other golf equipment and accessories. And, like Callaway's clubs, PING's clubs are engineered to help players of all skill levels achieve lower scores. PING is a top-notch golf club company and has several lines of clubs on the market at all times. Although the PING G5 irons have been discontinued, they can still be purchased on several websites, and used iron sets can often be picked up online.

So, when a friend noticed how badly I was struggling with my irons and offered to let me borrow his PING G5 irons for a few rounds, I eagerly accepted I'm a woman, but I'm tall and I play with men's clubs. I figured I could "kill two birds with one stone" - try them out so that I could write this review, and if I really liked them, I could find myself a set somewhere fairly inexpensively.

PING G5 irons are what are called "game improvement" irons, designed to help lower the scores of beginning to average golfers. My own iron play needed some help, so I was hoping they'd do that for me, too.
